Towards Initiation

Lesson 8

There is in reality only one science and one art. All that which is called science and art in this world is humanity’s conception and personal experience of the One. Again, everything in this Reality is in Perfect Order, therefore humanity must possess the right concepts to experience this Order aright. The One Science and Art is the science and art of Living – and living to fullfillment is dependent upon a knowledge of Perfect Order.
Since the indwelling entity is whole and complete within itself it projects this same Wholeness and Completeness into its concrete experiences. Where disharmony and physical ailment is experienced these have been brought about by the entity poisoning his concrete world with false concepts. Everything in this world should be in tune with the World of Cause, and when our vision is corrected this is found to be so.
Everything is, therefore, in its correct place and performing its correct function. Where the experience is otherwise there is evidence of poison within one’s ideas of life. The statements made in the Holy Bible about man being free from unpleasant conditions if he lives correctly are as true today as they were in the beginning, and they will continue to be so. No matter what ideas or concepts humans may conjure up regarding the nature of Beings and the laws to live by, the Truth will always remain as It is.
We can positively assure you that the majority of systems for achieving mastery over life’s conditions (of “overcoming” war, want and disease) are based upon false concepts; otherwise there would not be the mass confusion or the increase in “spiritual anarchy” that we see today. We might add that those who claim to teach “esoteric science”, “Mastery of Life” and other “unique” systems are basing their ideas on human speculations. This might seem somewhat boastful and might annoy many, but let the results speak for themselves. How many can achieve the heights that we speak of in these lessons and prove out the results? In like manner we can positively assure you that our “system” does work and the results can be achieved because our teaching is based upon the Cosmic Truths as they are. We possess the correct authority for our claims – these are made evident to our closer pupils who can prove them for themselves.
Meanwhile, let us continue. When the entity ceases to project his own poisons into his own experiences, he ceases to experience the illusion, for where there is disease and strife, there is evidence of illusions, and no-one can escape this fact. The person should then examine where he is falling short of his own experience of Reality. He cannot hoodwink the law. It is only he himself who is the victim of his own self-will. One cannot grow into Mastership until he has learnt the lesson of “Physician, heal thyself”, for if he is unable to first heal himself of worldly conditions he cannot possibly heal others or help them back to harmony. Only he who knows the way can show the way. To be “healed” of any condition means being freed from that which is commonly called “sin”. This word is derived from the Hebrew “shin” which means “falling short of”. It was this fact that led Jesus to state on one occasion, “Is it easier for me to say ‘Be thou whole’ or ‘Thy sins are forgiven thee'”. Suffering and “sin” go hand in hand, and right living and right experiences do likewise. This truth leaves no room for excuses, neither does it leave any room for a scapegoat. There is much misconception regarding this subject of healing and false dogmas of present-day religions leave the door wide open for reliance on “supernatural” or “miraculous” powers to heal. There is nothing “supernatural”. Everything follows an ordinary sequence of events, and where error is corrected in one’s life, then the experience of error is eliminated.
No other being can remove your errors for you. This might appear to contradict the seeming evidence produced by those who call themselves “healers”, but if a person continues to live a life of error, then he must continue to experience the error and there is no way round this. As a man thinks and acts, so will his experience be. Another person can “perk you up” or give you a boost or help to dispel your illusions for a brief period, but no-one can take away the responsibility of the Self. As soon as you clean out your wrong mental images you will see more clearly what is inside and outside. It is like cleaning a dirty window to let in more light. This is true balance – heaven within and heaven in your experiences, in your dealings with others and in your enjoyment of the beauties of nature. Does it not say in the scriptures, “Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God”?
The Great Teachers have stressed the truth that there is only Reality; all else which does not conform to the known nature of Reality is an illusion. This leaves no room for arguments or opinions. Proving this out leads to Mastership, and to ignore this great truth only delays the realisation of that which you claim to be seeking. In this work it is not a matter of reading a lot of books to obtain a mass of facts or belonging to an order or society. It is not a form of study that one gives to the worldly fields of knowledge. It is a way of life and an attitude of mind that needs to be applied to every situation. It is a way of action, not reaction. Mastership is not the result of taking a prescribed number of lessons or being elevated through the degrees in an order. It is the practical achievement of being your own Master of Destiny.
A Master does not regulate his life by the movement of the planets or stars, by numbers, ceremonial magic or tarot. He is the sole master of his own decisions and actions resulting from these decisions. A Master does not bow down to another for all are equal to him. This attitude follows through to all that is considered “greater”. A Master does not subject himself to the “gods” and they respect him for it for they know that he knows the Great Truth also. A Master recognises nobody as his superior, neither does he will himself upon another or use another as his instrument. No-one else does he call “Master”. All are his brothers and friends, and there is no need for ceremony, special signs or language on this plane or any other. A man who is a Master is a free man of all worlds and he takes on his normal responsibilities without show and in all humility. He is a living epitome of the Law and a focal point of the Reality. A man cannot claim to be a Master if he calls others by that name for in this he is not free from differences. He who addresses the Brothers of the Hierarchy or “Great White Brotherhood” as “Holy Masters” is not yet made perfect, for there is neither high nor low, holy nor unholy – everything just Is.
In this great life of Oneness we are all equal. Who can be your master or your slave but you who subject yourself to your own weakness? To a Master all beings contain the essence of Mastership and all beings are the offspring of the Divine Parent. “To the pure all things are pure” it says in the scriptures.
We have dealt with you severely but our trust is in you to respond to our appeal. We bring you nothing new. Our teaching is based upon the teaching of Perfection which is as old as time itself. True esotericism is a way of self-discipline, the straight and narrow way to God-realisation. It is the “heart-teaching” of all the great systems from one side of the globe to the other. That which is achieved is the inherent and natural nature of the “higher” intelligent life within the Cosmos. So in this achievement you place yourself at one with all manifested life.
In 2 Corinthians 10 : 5 it says; “Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the Knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ…..”
Our work is dedicated solely to helping man to implant this discipline in their lives. As you will see it is a mental discipline. As we have said before, we use “Christian” terminology for people here because it is more easily understood. Truth, as we know it, remains the same in any terminology or language. In a Cosmic sense the Christ, the Buddha, Melchisedek, Krishna and Zoroaster are synonymous. The teachers of the Ancient Americas have their equivalents here too.
To heal a man is to first heal his Soul.
