Inner Sanctuary Teachings ~ The Quest for Truth

Whilst our goal is to grow beyond the need of religion and similar systems, as humans, we often find times when Reality seems obscure. One should not be dismayed during these periods because the human focal point is linked to all forms in nature and one becomes aware of how the “lower” forms of life can suffer at the hands of human ignorance.

For this reason, the Sanctuary maintains a rigorous training system for those wishing to take up a Priesthood wherein they can feel in tune with all beings and act as a catalyst in preventing trouble or in encouraging higher pursuits. Priesthood in the Sanctuary can be a rewarding experience. We maintain the ‘orthodox’ view of the ‘Apostolic Succession’ although to us this is a turn over of the ancient Rite of Succession wherein authority to teach is passed on from teacher to teacher. Also we regularly hold a Communion Service but our ethos or meaning is different from the institutionalised organisations. Our Christ is the Mythical one which was known way back in ancient Egypt; as respecting the western tradition. It culminated in the Inner Wisdom or Gnosis in the Greek and Egyptian Schools around 600 B.C. Historians and theologians are aware of the fact that what is called ‘Christianity’ today is far removed from that practised by the Ekklesia in the early centuries A.D. Such literature as found in The Dead Sea Scrolls and The Nag Hammadi Library prove this. The early fathers also had an interest in the Hermetic philosophies.

The True Christian Gnosis is really a synthesis of the present and most reliable and practical teaching collated around the early pre-Christian centuries and early Christian era. It was not until the Emperor Constantine, in the 4th century A.D., demanded full political power without any kind of opposition, and with conniving bishops assumed absolute authority for the souls of man that the Light began to fade. The truly enlightened teachers, their lives at risk, then went underground to maintain and carry on the work of the Cosmic Hierarchy; spiritual Truths cannot be legislated.

The True Priesthood is the right of every man and woman, for through right living and self-purification the human body becomes tuned to the Reality Itself and the person is able to function under the correct energies, free from illusion. Therefore one becomes a priest within his, or her, own temple and does not need the teachings channelled through secondary sources.

We are able, in some degree, to understand the ‘Incomprehensible’ by Its functioning out here in visible manifestation. The outer manifestation of ‘God’ or ‘First Cause’ was called the Pleroma, a Greek word meaning the ‘fullness of everything.’ In its deeper meaning it refers to the fact that the ‘Fullness’ is present in every aspect of visible and invisible Creation. Paul says, “In Him (the Christ Consciousness) dwells all the fullness (Pleroma) of the Godhead bodily.” This admits that this ‘God’ cannot be away from Its own Creation – but rather is very much at one with it. Therefore it matters not who or what we are as everyone has equal access to the Parent within. Institutionalised Christianity forgets this fact when it is under the belief that the other religions have to be replaced by theirs.

As we have mentioned before, meditations, ceremonies of the Eucharist are here for our help, our stepping stones to maturity and when we reach our goal we no longer need these because we become ‘God-guided’ from within.

In the higher priesthood we come to learn that the Christos myth is continually being played out in the bodily temple because every cell, organ and part in the spiritual anatomy of this body is the expression of one or other cosmic energy being manifest at our level. In very truth the whole body is a compound of the harmonious energy substances existing throughout the Universe. Being initiated into this knowledge enables the priest to discipline his, or her, own personal errors and to reach out into the farther unknown resources which lie potentially within every person.

The only way in which the higher Cosmic Energies can be experienced is by purifying the mind which means that we need to halt the process of thinking like a mortal being and to programme our minds in the direction of Wholeness, Harmony and Perfection. Still to hang on to our human weaknesses and to make excuses for our selves defeats the growth of awareness.

The Cosmic Creator of Manifestation is THE Intelligence Itself and in spite of all the attempts to stifle the Truth by organised religions, philosophies and the pseudo-esoteric groups, this Intelligence maintains Its Channels for the maintenance of the Truth of Reality in every age. It presents its channels in each generation and successive teachers are guided to adapt the material to suit the needs of the students in every age.

The false vestiges of truth will fade away and that which can never be destroyed will be revealed. Mankind will cease hoodwinking itself and as the human race matures into perfect manhood and womanhood the Truth as It is, as It has been and as It always will remain will blossom forth as the first shoots in springtime and brotherhood and peace will be experienced on Earth. This precious Truth is maintained and protected by this Sanctuary which acts as the direct instrument for the great Hierarchy of Beings who live to act as channels for the Great Love and Wisdom of the Universe and who also maintain a bridge over which the Secrets of Life are preserved and taught to those who have the courage to stand naked in the Light of Truth.

Our Sanctuary has stood the tests of time and stands as the centre for personal Divine illumination in these islands, for the Light of Truth is not to be located in any temple built with hands or any assumed ‘sacred’ grove or geographical spot but it is there to be awakened in the Heart of every being.

Through the centuries, groping mankind has believed that the “Word of God” can be crystallised into the form of a sacred book and from this concept has sprung many wars and suppositions about the real nature of the Universe. The enlightened person no longer needs books from which he, or she, gather sustenance. Everything in the world of effects takes on a new perspective and the beauty of nature is enjoyed and books, art and music become things in which we find new fields of harmony and a means whereby we help our fellow creatures.

The nature of the Universal Mind is pure Agape or a quality which transcends all human efforts to describe or experience It accurately. It is the Life and Power in which we ‘live, move and have our being’ – the Life within which transcends all other forces within the Cosmos. It is the power which moves the mighty quasars, the pulsars, galaxies and the great suns of all descriptions and we as tiny beings on this planet are linked by the chains of atoms which, by the very fact of unity gives us an affinity with the remotest star. To meditate positively on this fact helps us to free ourselves from the mortality in which we appear to be locked. In our work to cosmic liberation, we need to look beyond the human foibles, which we invent to preserve our own little world of transient dreams. In our growing up, we awaken to the Glory of the Life of which we are a part.
