Towards Initiation
Lesson 5
It should be clear by now that the teachings of the Great Masters have nothing to do with the theories, philosophies and systems of the world of humans. The teachings of these Great Ones spell out the Reality That Is and the true meaning of life as it is intended for humans and the whole of life throughout the length and breadth of the created universe.
Humans are forever chasing after false and illusory aims and then try to correct these illusions with the teachings of Truth, but because there is no meeting point between the true and the false such efforts are in vain. Everything within this world of sound, colour and form is but a symbol or portrayal of that which is taking place within the mind of man, and whatever conditions are appearing in this world of experience they reveal the extent of man’s Truth or error. Thus it is from within the mind of man that all errors must be erased. The Source of Truth and Reality is not to be found in this world, therefore man is surely delaying his own good by assuming that he can find it here.
The most important of the Great Teachers who we have had in this cycle is the Christ and He made it abundantly clear that he is not concerned with the affairs of this world and that His teaching has nothing to do with the kind of things which human beings chase after – yet those who claim to follow Him by calling themselves “Christians” take it upon themselves to preach anarchy, act violently, fight for supposed rights, run charities and numerous other causes, whilst all the time He has no part or place in such humanly contrived doctrines. All that He is concerned with is the “soul” or eternal nature of man’s being.
An esoteric analysis of the Sermon on The Mount
For this talk we will need to look up in the Holy Bible what is popularly called “The Sermon on The Mount”, commencing in St. Matthew chapter 5. So many people seem to be concerned with the incidents in the life of Jesus rather than what He taught, and it is for this reason that we draw your attention to the most direct presentation of Cosmic Truths to have been given to the public in these times.
It can be seen that the teachings of the Christ, given by Jesus, are what we call “four-dimensional” and, as we have said, they have nothing to do with this “three-dimensional” world of limitations, for once we have put ourselves right with the Source, this world of sensory experience will automatically fall into line with the desired principles. We should make it clear that the “City of God” lieth Four-square in the true mystical doctrines, and this is truly occult and magical in the Divine sense. The Trinitarian doctrines are, from the standpoint of inner truths, considered exoteric and appertain to the world of sensory experience only. Thus, all that we have said about what is considered to be “occult” or hidden is no more hidden from the heart of man than his very own life. Traditionally, all true initiates are presented with a four-dimensional cube, and to try to understand the real nature of this from the three-dimensional point of view is an impossibility, so when you can grasp the point we are trying to make, you will understand what the Reality is all about.
Let us now refer you to your Bible: (St. Matthew’s Gospel)
5: 3-12 Here is explained another aspect of reaping what we sow.
5: 13-16 Jesus is telling his hearers that if they dwell in the Light, the Light will, of itself, be evident.
5: 17-20 Here is explained the necessity of sheer honesty on the part of the hearer because the Law cannot change.
5: 21-26 You cannot take the law into your own hands and be free from it.
5: 27-32 The relationship between a man and his wife is sacred and their joining together is of great occult significance. Those who enjoy or encourage deviation from this fact must finally reap the consequences.
5: 33-37 One must not think that he can involve the Truth in his opinions or actions because man’s affairs are a responsibility unto himself. In judgement, therefore, keep silent.
5: 38-48 Here is expressed what is meant by Divine Love (see also Corinthians Chapter 13). If a man claims to love humanity and yet says he has enemies and has personal hates there is no Truth in him, because one cancels out the other. Here it can be seen that the majority of the “Christian” churches are in error.
6: 1-5 One cannot perform charity on other people’s money and goods as do the organised charitable institutions. There is no realisation of Heaven under such circumstances, for many of the organisers receive honours and medals, their only reward, which perish with the personality.
6: 6-18 It can be seen that “prayer” is really a statement of self-awareness and assurance in the fact that God is continually supplying our needs, that the law is always operative. Since one is not following the ways of the world one does not make it obvious that he is different from others.
6: 19-34 These verses are all self-explanatory and contain the essence of what we have been saying all along.
7: 1-5 Watch out for yourself. What others do is no concern of yours.
7: 6 Do not talk about or discuss those things where you know they will not be appreciated.
7: 7-12 Look within for your source of supply. Seeking in the world of effects leads to a lack of everything.
7: 13-14 Few find it because the many look in the wrong direction.
7: 15-20 Prove teachers from the results you get from the teachings.
Many critics believe that the fruits are the numbers of believers and followers they get. But the real fruits are those mentioned in Galatians 5: 22-26.
7: 21-23 It is of no avail if one simply believes in the teachings and then makes his own interpretations of them. Truth as It is has to be accepted.
7: 24-27 This rock is revealed in two ways. Firstly, by the discipline of the self which proves one to be a firm and stable instrument for the greater harmony and stability to be revealed in one’s experiences. Secondly, the Christ teachings are based on Divine Logic (the Logos) which is without error. Human logic is based upon sensory perception and is full of errors.
See also Matthew 12: 46-50. Personalities do not exist in the four-dimensional state. A man’s divinity is more important than his name and status in the world.

We are fully aware of the dangers of writing a lot of material which is difficult to verify. You might not even agree with our interpretation of the scriptures, but in the light of what we have said your own interpretations could be as wrong as ours, and whilst all these different outlooks might be interesting, they are not important. The important question we should ask ourselves is whether or not we know how to become more efficient instruments of God’s Life and Power.
Earth, whilst being a place of “redemption”, could be transmuted into a heaven-world. For example, whilst we have referred to the possibility of concrete experiences of other realms, the nature of these realms can become real experiences here on Earth. This can help us to prove the manifestation of all forms of life within our Solar System.
There is an interesting theory of a “law of correspondences”, but the corresponding factors do not always present themselves through sense perception. For example, just because something might present, say, female characteristics here, it does not necessarily mean that there is a corresponding factor throughout. Such correspondences manifest accurately only through the Reality Concept, and that which presents itself in the illusory field is always subject to doubt.
