Joyful Living

Lesson 6

4

The centre of our individual being is like the nucleus of an atom. This centre is the location of our own individuality – the true self. Now exactly like the atom we generate forces from within ourselves and our will directs the nature of these forces. Thus, the types of energy produced are coloured by our own motives and desires and this decides the kinds of experiences we have. This means that we, of ourselves, suffer or enjoy according to what we have produced by our own will.

Man is a micro-copy of the universe in its physical sense and of the greater intelligence in its way of expression. So as the sun is in the centre of our solar system with the planets revolving around it we in turn are in miniature radiating, from within, to every cell in our own bodies. Because the majority of human beings are ignorant of their own make-up they produce much pain and suffering through lack of intelligent living.

Accepting these facts it can be seen that when we are able to control ourselves we can avoid many of the pitfalls and build up an entirely different world free from sickness, wars and strife among the varying creeds.

A person who easily argues, resents, worries and hates is altogether an unhappy person because he eventually suffers by his own hand the world he has created for himself. Thus, it behoves us to acquire a wise philosophy based upon the truth of being to be able to cope with our present problems and build anew the conditions we would like to be fulfilled.

Because each person’s problems are unique to the individual we can only advise that if you adhere to the principles as taught in these lessons you will begin to radiate the right energies to produce the conditions desired and these energies in turn will help dissolve the unpleasant ones that have already been created.

The scriptures declare that man is made “in the image and likeness” of god and since this god sustains and maintains the universe its resources must be unlimited. If the statements “I and my father are one” and “I work, and the father works hitherto” are true then it means that we, as individuals, share in the mighty task of keeping the universe in order. (These sayings of Jesus are from St. John’s Gospel).

It has been discovered that our own ideas of ourselves motivates our actions and either limits or helps us to live successfully. If we believe ourselves to be sinners then we will act and think like what we believe a sinner to be. In this we create our own yardstick. We create our own reasons for thinking and acting as we do and thus tie our own hands and feet – we make ourselves our own prisoner.

Human beings often seem more ready to accept their suffering than to accept their good. Many doubt their capacities and give excuses like “O, I couldn’t do that” or “My brain is not made that way” and “I am not cut out for that sort of thing” or “My circumstances do not permit me”. All these are self-imposed ideas and by giving our own reasons for our failures we are in sympathy for ourselves. To believe that anything “good” could happen to us is just a mad dream.

We resent others and hurt others because we believe that we are different in some sort of special way and get ruffled when this idea of ourselves is imposed upon. What we forget is that most people have a false idea of themselves and therefore live and act accordingly. How should we consider ourselves then? What should our “yardstick” be? These lessons have tried to point out that man is God at this level of creation and that each of us is endowed with the same capacities as our Father. If we recognise that that “in which we live, move and have our being” is limitless, all-pervading, all wisdom, intelligent, whole and perfect and is not affected by anything we do or by any of the effects appearing in the world – and having the faith in its truth – live and act as if it were so the results will soon prove the truth.

We should have no pre-conceived idea of a god in our own image – for in that we think and act according to how we think about it but we should allow our thoughts to think beyond the average conceptions including our own. These reasons show why the world is in such a state as it is – everybody has a “pet” theory or idea and then, as individuals, live their life according to their own beliefs. To attain a harmonious state of affairs on this earth then one should only let his thoughts and actions be motivated from a pure and incorruptible concept of God as is humanly possible. The more we are able to become aware of the real nature of life the more of this much talked “spiritual” power will become manifest. Moses realised this fact that he indicated in his first two commandments to his followers. In the 91st psalm attributed to David is shown that the real power of the truth can be experienced and not just as some hopeful dream.

All the great religions are founded on the same teachings – the methods of attainment, however, vary. The methods do nothing in themselves only give the pupil a form of discipline necessary to put him on the right path. The realisation of god-power must come from within.

The general idea of facing reality is that of accepting life as it is. This is true – but how is it? It is said that we must face our problems – but what is the nature of our problems? It all depends upon which way we are looking and from which angle we seek the answers. More often than not when we try to tackle our problems from the standpoint of worldly philosophies and theories we find ourselves more and more in difficulty but if we recognise these problems as simply something that has to be worked out in the way of diffusing energies (which in reality possess no substance of their own) we cease to worry and know that in truth we cannot suffer at the hand of unreality and continue to act as if all were well – the trouble quickly clears itself up.

If we try to remember that we are continually producing many types of energy from within we can learn to control ourselves in respect to the way in which we want this energy revealed in our circumstances. This is the secret underlying the many systems of ceremonial magic and witchcraft – and it is according to the way this energy is directed that we get the results accordingly. The secret is, however, to think even beyond this and live out the necessary requirements and the rest will look after itself. The practice of pure love to all creation transcends even “manipulating” as you will learn and life takes on an entirely different picture beyond all your wildest dreams. The “state” or “level” of what we call the spiritual consciousness, or realm of Mechisedek, is absolutely pure love in nature and by living your life according to its principles you will experience a real power in your life.

The illusions of this world refer to the error in making deductions from worldly theories and opinions. Because the world of form is the activity of god – or his form in action they are only effects – thus to make any effort to find the answers to the real nature of life from these effects gives us only an illusion of the truth. For example, whilst you, yourself, might think in a particular way your actions could give a wrong impression (illusion) to an onlooker – therefore if he were to say “This fellow is a so-and-so fellow” he has judged from appearances and his information regarding your true motive is far from the truth. Therefore to say that certain effects – especially in disease and other human problems, gives a true picture of the reality of life one is far from that which really is. The effects are true in relation to the laws of activity but not to the nature underlying the cause of the activity and these effects bear no relation to the actual motives of God.

Let us here give a summary of what we have tried to show you: There is one great universal source of all life that is pure in nature. Primarily it is in a non-active state. This means that in Itself there is no motion or activity. This source has many terms given to It by man.

By Its own will It fashioned a vehicle for expression. This we call creation – which includes all manifested and unmanifested, to our senses, life. This creation is the activity of God. This creation operates like a vast, precision built, machine and because this machine works in certain ways we call these ways, or mode of operation, “LAWS”.

Man, the whole of humanity, forms a part of this creation like the heart forms part of the body. Because individual man is like an evolved cell within the organism of creation he has the quality of selection, or choice, and it is in this ability to select that he becomes a healthy or diseased unit.

The body of a man is simply his vehicle for activity and means of communication with this certain range of light frequencies and we call it the physical plane. At centre, the real entity, is endowed with the same nature as its parent, the creator. A man then who uses his “selfwilfulness” contrary to the “laws” of the complete organism creates unpleasant conditions for himself and reveals more or less his rate of development.

By not accepting the evidence presented to us through our senses as being real but only appearances and relying solely on the life from which we stemmed for our sustenance we remain immune to that which is popularly called “natural causes”.

We cannot give you wholeness and joy since it has already been established for us by the creator. We only pass on the knowledge of how to make it a reality in your life as it has been passed on to us. We of this priesthood know, without a doubt, that the principles indicated in this teaching are the ONLY way to genuine personal freedom – and by the practice of such principles you will be lead into all TRUTH.
